Inspiring reading and the wisdom of social networking crowds

Earlier today, I posted about the feeds I consider critical reading for me. This post is something of a companion – books you should be reading to get your head around new-world knowledge management, social media and modern management. All this is prompted by this Tweet I posted earlier, asking my social network:

As one sponsor for a web community event, what 4-6 books should I offer as prizes? Subj=social media+capital,maverick thinking,new web ideas

As I more or less expected, my network came back with a bunch of good ideas. Ric with:

@trib – Mavericks at Work (http://www.mavericksatwork.com), Naked Conversations (http://preview.tinyurl.com/ytusu2) #

and this:

@trib Cluetrain, the Fifth Discipline #

My friend, Michael Specht, with this:

@trib cluetrain, wisdom of crowds, anything from guy kawasaki #

Laurel Papworth even blogged a reply for me!

I already had a bunch of ideas, and these good folks (who have apparently somehow been peeking at the bookshelf in my home office) have confirmed my ideas. More proof of the value and connection in social networks, if you ask me.

So, let’s take a look at the bookshelf in my home office…

My home office bookshelf

The middle shelf is my Terry Pratchett collection, but the top and bottom shelves are close to overflowing with food for thought. I’ll put up a complete list with links for you over the weekend.

In the meantime, take a look at the photo and see if you can spot anything you like!
